Of all the seasons to lean into your inner witch, it is this one.

Unleash her wild, playful and powerful magic. Below is a list of ideas to explore and reflections that have risen this season.

Before we take action, the embodied witch must tune inward. Come to a quiet reflective space and observe what arises to be seen. You will naturally be drawn towards, and attract in, a unique path that honors this season.

Key notes to guide your witch exploration

Lean into self care and self devotion to deepen your inner witch connection

Treat yourself like a Queen and Goddess. Spend nourishing quality time with yourself and notice what it feels like to just be, breathe and delight in the day.

Utilize intuition to guide your choices forward

Tip 1: Intuitive guidance can be immediate by asking a yes or no question, and it can come in a subtle quiet way when you are most receptive. Become immersed in the present moment, regulate your nervous system, and do activities that bring you into quiet wonder and inner delight. The messages will be delivered in the most natural and gentle ways. They may come through inspired thoughts/ideas, repeating messages and signs from the external world, third eye visions, loving voices, or sensations.

For example I let my intuition guide me to watch a movie and it led me to watch Halloweentown. Initially I wasn’t planning on watching this movie because it’s a little outdated for me. But while watching it I became inspired by Debbie Reynolds’ character and her witchy wisdom. “Magic is easy, all you have to do is want something and let yourself have it!” This renewed a belief in myself and my magic.

Take a pause between activities

Come back to center and let the heart and intuitive nudges lead you.

Tip 1- This is a time of year to reflect and craft what you envision for the up coming year. Notice when your intuition guides you to take time to be with yourself and journal.

Tip 2- Listen to a guided meditation such as this one. You can find a plethora of free meditations on Insight Timer App or YouTube.

Resources and opportunities will align naturally for you

Simply speak out a question, a curiosity or a desire to yourself and the universe. Come back to enjoyment of the present and notice what appears in your world. Neutral observation from a balanced place is a way to become aware of answers and gifts that are being delivered to your doorstep. At the end of the day, take stock of what has come about with ease.

Below is a list of ideas to explore.

Notice if anything listed ignites a spark within you.

Connect with ancestral roots and medicinal practices led by women.

The witch we see around Halloween is a playful version of what is real and true. However, some of us also have ancestral lineage and present day practices to take into account. Take some time to explore what are the indigenous practices of the women and community where your family originated from. What land did they come from? What spiritual and medicinal practices and ways of living can you explore from those places of the world?

What is a cultural celebration during this month? Honoring this season beyond Halloween are keys into a deeper connection with the inner witch of your ancestral roots.

Visit the dead

Do you have any relatives that are buried in a cemetery nearby? Do you have any family pieces of those who’ve passed on? This is a great time of year to be present with family members and loved ones who have passed on. You’ll find this connection can cultivate a rich feeling of love and healing.

Alternatively you can always visit and connect with the dead whom you don’t know. Getting comfy with the ghostly can be a fun time!

  • Bring something special to a family gravesite.
  • Make an altar space with items that you feel drawn to represent them.
  • Take a fall foliage walk through a cemetery

Connect with the stars

Exploring the seasons of the sky can bring insight and aid into your life and current experience. There is a reflection in the external for the internal.

Notice if you feel drawn towards anything of cosmic nature and follow that thread of curiosity!

  • Learn about the cosmovision of your lineage.
  • Learn about the cosmovision of the first peoples of the land where you live
  • Explore your astrology chart
  • Join a full/new moon circle

Get into the harvest of this season

Being a witch is sometimes as simple as being in connection with nature and the seasons.

A fun way to welcome that energy into your day is by cooking and baking with vegetables of the season. Pumpkin bread, soups, stews. These are all ways to lean into the inner kitchen witch. Getting into the kitchen also fosters connection with our family. Are there any foods or meals from your ancestral lands that you feel drawn to cook? This is a way to connect with aspects of ourselves through food!

Practice your spells

Altars, writing, dance, meditative visualization, candle lighting, speaking aloud. There are many forms of spell casting. It is meant to be natural for you and doesn’t have to look a certain way. You have unique magic. Trust your intuition and follow what feels fun and natural.

  • Get a new book on a topic you find interesting
  • Walk through a crystal shop and buy something you feel drawn towards
  • Gather pieces of nature that light you up and bring them inside to make an altar
  • Buy a candle to light with intention
  • Make yourself a potion bath. Fill it with oils and flower petals of your choice. Speak an intention from the heart over the bath before dipping in.

Get together with your coven

An absolute favorite Halloween was when I dressed up in witch costume with my two close friends. It felt so nourishing in a deep way. Coming together with your sisters (friends) can ignite a magic and bond that is essential to being a witch. Whether you are just gathering to dress up, or sipping tea together and having girl talk, welcome deep moments together. Invite conversations around topics like manifestation, intuition, and anything spiritual you’ve been inspired by lately.

Honor your menstrual (moon) cycle

The moon cycle for a woman is a grounding point to access your power and ancestral wisdom. The womb carries memories and connection that goes beyond time and space. It is a space for creation and can carry your visions to birth into reality! There are many ways to deepen your connection and I would advise to let your intuition and natural inclination guide you. Try incorporating a new habit that supports and honors the changing hormones and energy levels that come with the moon cycle.
