July 5th, 2024 – New Moon Letter What’s included
One was male and one was female. I interpreted both were possibly dangerous. The male I held away from me and grasped around its jaw to keep it from lunging and attacking. This snake had sharp teeth and a large rounded head. I ended up tearing apart the snake’s jaw and killing it. I didn’t seem remorseful in the dream. It was more like a survival instinct disconnected from emotion. The female came along and I also held her by the jaw. Her head was smaller but had the same rounded appearance. I brought her to someone who ended up resembling my dad, maybe a father figure in general, and asked for help. I was stuck holding her and wanted to let go without getting attacked. The male figure took her in and showed me she is gentle, to approach with love, and they started snuggling! Then she came my way. I felt the sensation of fear and impending injury. Similar to the feeling before jumping off of a bridge into water. As she got closer, I felt that panic rise as I sat there and let her approach. Ultimately, I was ok and I was unharmed. It’s interesting how often I have dreams with creatures that appear like it is there to harm me, but that’s just my assumption and the experience I create from a place of panic. In my past dreams like this one, any injury only happens because of fast reactive movement. It’s very normal to protect yourself instinctively for survival. But what if there’s no danger at all, and we just need to stay calm, breathe, and relax our body? These ancient creatures that visit me in my dreams are like symbols of tests. Their power and ability to do harm through poison or attack, paralyzes me with fear. In what ways am I choosing to respond to the possibility it can hurt me? When on the flip side it is also there to be a Spirit Guide and teacher on my journey? The best response to fear is to ask questions, go inward and breathe. In the upcoming week, become a neutral observer of your life and your physical reactions. What causes a survival instinct response? What scenarios do you notice a fight, flight, or freeze instinctual response in your body? If you’re in survival mode so much you don’t even know how to distinguish when you’re not, I recommend listening to this episode from the Bliss Out Queen activation series. It will guide you into a centered and grounded state of being. Awareness is the first step to shift your life. Choose what you want your life to be like. Love, Erika What’s currently on my bookshelfThe only book I finished in this stack is Journey to Ollantaytambo. I love discovering local Vermont writers and books published here. This book appeared one day in my living room by the couch. I thoroughly enjoyed journeying to my dad’s homeland through the eyes of a photographer from Connecticut. The author Ethan Hubbard is amazing at connecting with people across language and cultural differences in a very authentic way. This book filled me up because it fulfilled a desire to connect more with ancestral roots of Peru. The book I’m most excited to be reading is the Italian in 30 days. A friendly reminder, your local library is full of amazing and completely free resources to fulfill any of your curiosities or new interests. Do you like to travel? Get a travel book! Do you enjoy cooking? Check out a new cook book. Now I know how to say, io sono Erika, io ho venti nove anni. I am Erika, I am 29 years old. (I think that’s correct but correct me if you know Italian!)
